As I scroll through Instagram on a warm (ish) Saturday afternoon, one thing that keeps surfacing as I blitz through the layers of pages and profiles is the rise of Instagram art pages. In order to really promote your brand and connect to the wider art community, TikTok is the number one interactive way to answer questions from prospective buyers and give them a fun, quick insight into your art. In addition, you create rapport with the ‘buyers of the future - Gen Z - who can’t get enough of this addictive, attention-eroding social media application.
2. Start a YouTube Channel: This option may feel very 2016, but YouTube is still by far the number one video-sharing platform on the internet, and the second most prominent social media platform after Facebook. Starting a YouTube channel takes three things: your phone camera, good lighting, and a microphone. Unlike TikTok, where there is real pressure to keep videos as short and concise as possible, you can take your time and present some longer-form ideas pertaining to your artwork and create a more pertinent art-loving community around your work by giving them further in-depth insights into your artistic process.
3. Produce a podcast or write a blog: Similar to starting a youtube channel, a blog allows you to build an audience through ulterior creative media, such as your voice or your writing. The great thing about podcasts and blogs is that even if you aren’t a very confident speaker or writer, you are only creating content about that which you love.
