Description

Caracas Cromatica is a nostalgic composition of my native city and the beauty in it. It is inspired by the grand Carlos Cruz Diez and his optical art. The lines of color that meet and create a vibrant and optical effect draw the shape of the magnificent mountain El Avila, a symbol of beauty, protection, and awe. The silhouette of buildings at the skirt of the mountain are some of the most iconic and important buildings for the capital of Venezuela, even if some of those do not exist anymore. Flying free in the sky, a couple of guacamayas watch over the city that is their home. This series of 8 prints was handmade using a silkscreen and hand cut stencils. Each layer, or color, was carefully printed and calculated to achieve the optical illusion between colors and shapes. Details in golden can be found throughout the piece. Each copy is editioned and signed. Materials: Fabriano white watercolor paper, water-based inks. Dimensions: 13 x 10 inches.
