Description

This one-of-a-kind original artwork is a part of the "World heritage architecture" Series that I dedicated to the magnificent world of ornament and color. Pure geometric forms, symmetry, precise shapes & vivid colors focus the viewer's attention on the historical heritage uniqueness. This drawing shows to the viewer The Ulugh Beg Observatory in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The artwork focuses the viewer's attention on the simple shapes of the building and the various colorful ornaments. Built in the 1420s by the Timurid astronomer Ulugh Beg, it is considered by scholars to have been one of the finest observatories in the Islamic world. The observatory was destroyed in 1449 and rediscovered in 1908. Ulugh Beg's Observatory is one of the most important observatories in bringing new discoveries in mathematics and astronomy.
