This painting was created using soft pastels on primed 300gsm paper. I discovered soft pastels about 5 years ago and fell in love with them. Pastels walk this delicate line between a drawing and painting, plus there's a a vibrancy and dreamy softness you only get with pastels. For this piece I wanted to experiment with blending the flowers so they almost looked like they were dissolving as they floated away from the face. My paintings explore emotions, solitude and stories of growth, often with with a touch of surrealism.
