this work is taken from a copy of Leonardo's " Mother & Child."it is done completely in greys. it has been erased so that only a hint of the original is visible, making The Master both present & absent at the same time. this is an homage, as well as a record of forgetting. we have come from a large Masterpiece. to a print on canvas of a digital copy. i wonder about how they are related in my work. about my debt to Art History; about how uniqueness gets called into question, in a post-modern world. all of this in one small work of remembrance @ tribute. a lot to think about. (i suggest this is hung on a nice, plain, contrasting colour.) zaza
