Black Sand Beach has truly been an emotional and evocative work of art, pulling at all physical resources to recreate such a phenomenal landscape. A large painting to suit the journey I embarked on whilst painting the cold sea fringing against the black sand coasts of Iceland. Icelands Black Sand Beaches rise dramatically out of volcanic rock. Many of Iceland's volcanos remain active today. It is a time of pure fury when searing, hot, molten lava meets ocean water. The relationship between the two elements is volatile until the lava cools and the ocean seals the aftermath, finally creating nutrient rich deposits of black sand.
