Oil on canvas painted at the beginning of the winter season. A female wolf in a snowy birches forest at night. She’s well grounded into the earth, just being and sharing with us her wisdom of stillness and letting go. Painting wildlife is for me a shamanic ritual where I let take place inside of myself the deva of the animal, sometimes many weeks before letting him take life on the canvas. Usually, those Totem animals find their new master as fast as I publish the result. If one of them decides to stay longer with me, it’s always for a purpose... a situation to transcend, a goal to achieve. "Solstice" for the balance between dark and light, wright and wrong, true and false. Winter "Solstice" for the promise of brighter days.
