The bowl is turned from wet walnut wood directly from a freshly cut log in endgrain direction. When turned thin the wood is allowed to move and whenthe wall thickness is even across the piece it will not crack much.The wet wood takes on color easily and for that piece I used color thatis normally used for dying clothes. Applying the colors after each other gave also a batic look that I like on that piece.The rim is colored red to add a contrast or seperation line between the colors. The little bark area on the outside was also colored redwhich gives it a highlight point for the eye to look at.
