This was painted from a photo I took of the Cowichan Valley, a beautiful piece of land on the Island where I live on the west coast of British Columbia. As I stood in the field, soaked to my ankles, I was transfixed by the beauty. I tried to imagine this land before civilization as we know it encroached on the valley. I pictured how it may have looked when the First Nations were living freely here on this very spot and how peaceful and serene their lives must have been. Framed in a black floating frame
